Canvas is the learning management system (LMS) used by Penn State to host online
courses, organize learning materials, facilitate communication and collaboration,
assess student learning, and analyze course data.
- Streamlines course administration, allowing instructors to focus more directly on
student learning
- Enables blended and flipped formats through organizational tools such as modules,
assignments, and quizzes
- Supports the development of digital literacy by integrating emerging educational
technologies
- Encourages multimedia communication and content creation skills among students
