The Student innovation pipeline is a pipeline of young people that need to gain skills and contribute to something bigger than themselves in order to make their way into the web development landscape. HAX serves as a backdrop for this education and provides a series of avenues for growth.
- Students enroll in Bryan Ollendyke's IST 256 class OR join HAX The Club, a student organization on campus
- This creates opportunities via skills obtained to contribute to HAX Lab (David Fusco, Bryan Ollendyke)
- HAX Lab offers internships and independent studies for students to use web development skills to apply them to solving institutional problems big and small
- Skills and projects in HAX The Club / class / lab then lead to improving web infrastructure for other PSU websites, community projects, other student organizations, as well as opening the door for client work
- This directly benefits the university through a more vibrant, modern web ecosystem built up in part through efforts from the students learning in class and social life
- Most importantly, students gain valuable industry skills in modern front end web development, HTML, CSS, JS, NodeJS and more that they can use to improve employment opportunities
